Marius Berthus Jansen (April 11, 1922 – December 10, 2000)〔Library of Congress Authority File: (Jansen, Marius B. ); retrieved 2011-07-14〕 was an American academic, historian, and Emeritus Professor of Japanese History at Princeton University.〔Princeton University, Office of Communications, ( "Professor Marius Berthus Jansen, scholar of Japanese history, dies," ) December 13, 2000.〕 He was born in the Netherlands, and graduated from Princeton in 1943, having majored in European history of the Renaissance and Reformation.〔The New York Times (Marius B.
